dispatches from the front: part two

I crossed my legs. I sat on the couch, and swung one leg over the other, and pointed my toe, and there I was, sitting on the couch with my legs crossed like a normal girl. I uncrossed them, and I did it again. And then I did it again. Floop, up and over. And I said to my friends, I said "Oh my god, you guys, I crossed my legs! Do you see? Wait, look, watch!" And they said "Oh, that's very nice," and I don't think they understood, because they have never had a problem such as being unable to cross their legs, but they were very happy for me, if a little confused. Me, I cried a little. Piece by piece, I'm getting my body back.

Oh, I understand that, even though I can cross my legs quite easily. But I've always wanted to be one of those girls whose legs, once crossed, are more or less parallel, instead of, like mine, one sticking out, and so not that elegant or comfortable. Good on you. Glad you're doing so well.

*CLAPPING* YaY! That IS pretty exciting! I still have a bit of a problem with it -- but it's getting easier! How far are you down now? You MUST update us! Are we ever going to get to see progress photos? (just wondering...) CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Good for you! Feels great, doesn't it?

I tortured my husband with it for most of an evening when I did it. I swear I about sprained a muscle crossing and uncrossing. :)

Just wait until you can not only cross them, but hook one foot behind your ankle. You'll totally feel like a contortionist.

Hooray! I remember the day I crossed my legs for the first time in about 20 years. . . I was sitting in my therapist's office and looked down. . . I had crossed my legs as if I did it every day. . . but we stopped our work and discussed the experience! Now I cross my legs often every day . . . and even so there are times that it just feels special!!!!

Yep, it's a great feeling. I can pretzel my legs now, by hooking my foot around the opposing ankle after my legs are crossed. It's a total trip. Look forward to it!

Awesome. I'll love it when I can sit down and not have a belly sticking out to rest my laptop on.

I get it 100%. It amazes me that I can do it now too. It's such a wonderful feeling!

Girls! Go easy on that foot-hooking thing.

It can overstretch your knee ligaments, which you will need for when you go dancing in expensive slinky outfits.

You did plan the shopping trip for the expensive slinky outfits, yes? :D

Yep, I completely understand. It happened to me a month ago in Florida. I haven't crossed my legs for 20 years. Never mind that I was brought up not to do it as it would give vein problems. It's a big milestone. Hooray for you!
